Miss Ingham and Mrs Cross

welcome you to Silver Birch Class!

A brief introduction...

This is Miss Ingham's seventh year teaching in Silver Birch Class and at Stanton. She absolutely loves history, English and phonics. Mrs Cross is a full time Teaching Assistant in Silver Birch and she loves supporting the children with their reading and phonics.  We think that we both make a very good team!

The children will get their first P.E lesson on a Monday afternoon and their second P.E lesson on a Friday morning. We suggest that all P.E kits are left in school and taken home every half term for a wash. Please make sure your child has suitable outdoor clothing including a jumper and bottoms.

You can find a full uniform checklist here.

In Silver Birch Class we recognise the importance of reading with the children. This will not only support their phonics but their writing and other subjects too. The children are all assigned an online E-Book which they would have read three times the previous week with an adult. Please contact Miss Ingham if you are having difficulties logging on. Each of the in school reading sessions focusses on a different aspect of reading; decoding, prosody and comprehension. We then urge you to read this book daily throughout the week to build your child's reading fluency and confidence.

We visit the library as a whole class every Friday afternoon. Please make sure your child's library book is in school every Friday so they can change it, if they wish to do so.

Learning in Silver Birch Class

In Silver Birch Class we love learning and have lots of exciting topics to focus on throughout the year. The Knowledge Organisers for Autumn Term have been uploaded onto Class Dojo in the portfolio section. The aim of these Knowledge organisers are to support children with retrieving knowledge taught.  If you would like anymore information please follow the link below!

For more information on any subjects please click on the learning tab above.

Home Learning

In Year 2 the children are expected to continue their learning at home. This includes practising spellings and a weekly maths activity which focusses on basic number work.  We also expect the children to read with an adult at home three times a week using the online E-Book system.
