School Information
Our school is situated in the village of Stanton and is one of the larger primary schools in the area. We serve a rural community with a mixture of families working locally or in the nearby town of Bury St Edmunds. The village also includes some Forces housing, and therefore our children come into our school with a whole variety of different experiences. As of January 2018, 25% of children are from forces families.
The school site includes our own school Nursery class not to be confused with the local pre-school. Our Nursery is an important part of our school and benefits from all the facilities and staff expertise found within the main school as well as providing a nurturing and caring start to a child's learning journey.
Our school Nursery is open all day for children from the term after their third birthday. We can also provide wrap around care from 7.50 am until 6.00 pm everyday as well as a Nursery lunch club. The Nursery class is staffed by 2 qualified teachers and 2 Early Years Practitioners. It serves a wide rural community and not all the Nursery children go on to full-time education in our school.
Our children enjoy coming to school (Ofsted May 2024). The children achieve well in our school and we invest in staff who support the learning of the individual.
Please get in touch with Judi Johnson, Office Manager, should you have any questions. She is contactable on the school telephone number or email address at the bottom of the page.
A message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents, Carers and Visitors to our school - A very warm welcome to Stanton Community Primary School.
Thank you for taking the time to browse our website. I hope that you find it informative and that it answers any questions you may have. My name is Liz Bonnelykke and I feel truly privileged to lead such a wonderful school and to have the opportunity of ensuring that each child at Stanton Primary receives the best possible education in their formative years.
Ofsted graded our school as ‘Good’ in our most recent inspection in May 2024. We hold many nationally recognised awards including: The Science Silver Award, Healthy Schools and we are working towards the Silver Sports Active Mark. In addition, we have a maths specialist teacher amongst our team.
As a school, we continually work hard to build upon our strengths and to address our areas for development in what is an ever changing and challenging educational climate. We have high expectations of our children and set challenging targets for them. Every child is encouraged to reach their full potential and we recognise that every child is special and has their own contributions to make.
Our staff are dedicated, hardworking and experienced. We provide a safe, calm and caring atmosphere in school and foster a hardworking ethos based on an enjoyment of learning within a stable environment. We expect a great deal from our children and they do not disappoint us. We are pleased to offer a varied selection of enrichment and enhancement opportunities and possess excellent links with our community – we are very proud of our reputation as a warm, welcoming, family school.
The Staff and Governors continually seek the views of parents, carers and visitors to our school. We recognise that parents play an important role in the education of their children and as such, we welcome your support and co-operation in making your child’s time at school enjoyable.
Our website is only a glimpse of what we feel makes Stanton Community Primary School distinctive. The best way for you to appreciate what we can offer your child is to experience our school first hand. I do hope you will visit us to meet our children and staff and to experience life at our unique school.
